100ml liquid rule reintroduced at some regional airports
London Southend Airport implements Next Generation Security Checkpoints , but the Department for Transport reintroduces 100ml liquid restriction temporarily.
The DfT reinstates the 100ml limit for passengers at London Southend Airport to enable improvements to new checkpoint systems, affecting five other airports.
The 100ml rule is back in force from 12.01am on Sunday at six regional airports, including London Southend, per DfT guidance.
The introduction of new 'scanners' has allowed this restriction to be changed. According to the UK Department of Transport, the reintroduction of the measure does not constitute a response to any specific threat.
