How likely is an absolute AfD majority in Saxony-Anhalt? With how many parties in the state parliament is this almost safe – and when excluded? Apollo News simulated and evaluated 100,000 possible election evenings.
There will be state elections in Saxony-Anhalt on Sunday, and the AfD will likely win the most votes, but it doesn't matter how big a victory it wins. However, it will certainly only be able to take the reins if it can secure an absolute majority on its own, which is unlikely, unless the pollsters are very wrong.
The AfD is in an exceptionally strong position just ahead of the elections in Saxony-Anhalt. In the latest polls, the party led by Ulrich Siegmund is projected to reach 41 to 43 percent. This puts it far ahead of the CDU, which stands at around 22 to 23 percent. If several small parties fail to reach the 5 percent electoral threshold, even an absolute majority of seats is a possibility.
