Avondale Police Search for Matthew Flores After Human Remains Found in Backyard
Police found blood and unidentified remains at the home, and investigators say 27-year-old Matthew Flores likely fled the country.
On Tuesday, Avondale Police conducted a welfare check at a Litchfield Park home and discovered two decomposing bodies buried in the backyard on Thursday, prompting a homicide investigation.
Investigators discovered a large amount of blood inside the residence and evidence suggesting an attempt to conceal it. Local resident Alec Rogers reported hearing "a little bit of yelling" on Tuesday morning.
"They have the advantage in the beginning," U.S. Marshal Van Bayless said, noting investigators rely on Ring and Nest cameras to track movements and street footage if the suspect crossed the border.
Avondale Police officer Daniel Benavidez confirmed the bodies remain unidentified, with the family requesting the names of the missing parents be withheld. Benavidez stated he could not provide specifics on where Flores is.
As authorities continue seeking public tips to aid the investigation, retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer noted it is "interesting that law enforcement has already said he's fled the country.
