A Chinese company tested the world's first floating wind energy system on January 5, 2026. The 30-minute test of the S2000 Sawes (Stratosphere Airborne Wind Energy System) was conducted in Yibin, Sichuan province. The equipment reached an altitude of 2,000 meters and generated 385 kWh (kilowatt-hours) during that time. The system resembles an airship. It is 60 meters long, 40 meters wide, and 40 meters high.
