Latvian energy firm Latvijas Gaze on Friday announced it was importing gas from Russia from an alternative supplier, other than Gazprom. It is paying for it in euros, instead of rubles, as required by Moscow. Russia has already cut off gas supplies to Poland, Bulgaria, Finland, Netherlands and Denmark. Sempe's wife, Martine Gossieaux Sempe told the AFP news agency about his passing. "Little Nicolas," a national treasure in France, didn't find immediate success when it was first published in 1959.
