Youth guilty of two charges tied to alleged plan to kill Jewish people
Ontario Superior Court Justice Kerry McVey found the youth guilty of two terrorism-related charges after evidence showed a planned mass-casualty attack.
On Friday, Ontario Superior Court Justice Kerry McVey found a youth guilty of two terrorism-related charges stemming from an alleged 2023 plot to kill Jewish people in Ottawa.
McVey convicted the youth of conspiracy to commit murder through involvement with a terrorist group and facilitating terrorist activity by seeking to acquire a prohibited firearm.
The judge acquitted the youth of a third charge regarding instructional material availability, while noting the youth conspired with his co-accused and an uncharged individual.
Due to his age, the youth cannot be legally identified, and his trial began in April following his co-accused's conviction on four related charges.
The court concluded the youth conspired to kill innocent people, marking the conclusion of a security investigation originating in Ottawa during 2023.
