Young child dies in home blaze, three others escape
Fire investigators have opened a crime scene after a four-year-old died and a woman and two children escaped the blaze, police said.
On Saturday, a four-year-old child died after a fire engulfed a home on Waugoola Road in Woodstock, about 22 kilometres north-east of Cowra in the Central West.
Emergency services were called to the property just before 3pm; Fire and Rescue NSW firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames and extinguished the blaze.
A woman and two children managed to escape the burning property safely. The woman was transported to Cowra Hospital in stable condition, suffering from smoke inhalation.
Officers from Chifley Police District established a crime scene at the site to investigate the fire's circumstances. A report will be prepared for the coroner as inquiries continue.
