Ange Postecoglou Clashes with Reporter over Cristiano Ronaldo Criticism
Postecoglou said Ronaldo has scored three goals and blamed himself after a reporter questioned the forward's impact.
On Tuesday, Al-Nassr manager Ange Postecoglou engaged in a heated exchange with a reporter while defending Cristiano Ronaldo following a 4-0 defeat to Al-Ain in the Asian Champions League Elite opener.
A Saudi journalist questioned whether the 41-year-old Portuguese star should maintain a prominent role at Al-Nassr, claiming Ronaldo had recently contributed "nothing" to the team.
Postecoglou fired back that the reporter was "watching a different game," adding, "You shouldn't say that about somebody who is still setting an example for everyone" while accepting responsibility.
The 4-0 thrashing marked the biggest defeat of Ronaldo's career in Saudi Arabia, compounding recent results that have fallen short of expectations for the club.
Al-Nassr currently sit third in the Saudi Pro League standings, and their bid to defend the crown will resume after the international window when they face Diriyah.
The Saudi team of Cristiano Ronaldo fell 4-0 in Asia and was left with no chance of overcoming the historic brand that resists since 1939.
