Kane is favored after scoring 73 goals last season, while Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappé remain in contention for football’s top individual prize.
- France Football’s official Ballon d’Or website briefly published pre-written winner pages for Harry Kane, Lamine Yamal, and Kylian Mbappé. These pages appeared hours before the ceremony scheduled for 26 October at the London Palladium.
- To celebrate the 70th anniversary, the event moves outside France for the first time in recent years. This shift honors inaugural winner Sir Stanley Matthews, who claimed the very first trophy.
- Pre-Written articles exposed vulnerabilities in the digital content management system. Organizers prepared multiple victory narratives for various contenders, which fans discovered and shared before the official announcement.
- Media inquiries followed the incident, yet organizers have not provided clarification regarding the security protocols. This lack of explanation leaves fans uncertain about the digital management of the high-profile awards.
- The event remains scheduled to proceed this evening. Organizers will crown the winner shortly, moving forward despite the unexpected chaos.
