Xinhua Silk Road: Mojiang in Yunnan extends global invitation to twin-themed festival for May Day holiday

On Tuesday, Mojiang Hani Autonomous County in Yunnan Province extended a global invitation for the 20th international twins festival, scheduled from May 1 to 5 during the upcoming May Day holiday.
Known as the "Home of Twins," Mojiang has a twin birth rate of 8.7 per thousand, over four times the global average. Since its 2005 launch, the festival has hosted more than 18,000 pairs of twins from over 40 countries.
The festival has generated nearly 2.4 billion yuan in tourism revenue and drawn over 4.4 million total visits. This year's program features twin parades, ethnic carnivals, and traditional music and dance activities.
Local officials said the 20th anniversary serves to enhance the "twin culture" brand and promote cultural and tourism integration while supporting Mojiang's development as a destination for green industries.
Mojiang has enriched its cultural tourism offerings by developing signature experiences such as the "Yunnan twin show" and "Yunnan village barbecue," forming a diversified model integrating performances, cuisine, and rural leisure.
