Woman Arrested for Starting Multiple Fires in Downtown Prince George, RCMP Say
Police say multiple small fires were quickly extinguished and 38-year-old Jessie Lynn Giroux faces arson and obstruction charges.
- Prince George RCMP arrested 38-year-old Jessie Lynn Giroux following reports of multiple suspicious fires deliberately set in the downtown area early Friday morning.
- Witnesses reported the suspect ignited a fire outside a business on the 1700-block of Victoria Street shortly after midnight before continuing down the street to light additional blazes.
- Mounties located Giroux on the 2000-block of 20th Avenue following a brief foot pursuit, taking her into custody without further incident as Prince George Fire Rescue Services extinguished the fires.
- Giroux faces charges of arson, causing damage to property, and obstructing a police officer. She remains in custody pending her next court appearance.
- Targeted downtown patrols will continue utilizing Prince George RCMP and RCMP Patrol Volunteers to maintain public safety as warmer weather keeps more people outdoors, Supt. Darin Rappel said.
