Kostyuk Breezes Past Paolini and Into Wimbledon Last Four
Kostyuk won 90% of her first-serve points and will face Linda Noskova after beating Paolini in 1 hour and 9 minutes.
On Wednesday, 12th-seeded Marta Kostyuk defeated 2024 finalist Jasmine Paolini 6-3, 6-2 at the All England Club, securing her first-ever Wimbledon semifinal appearance.
Before the tournament, Kostyuk doubted her grass-court game, but coach Sandra Zaniewska reassured her the surface suited her style "100 percent," shifting her mindset.
Playing with aggressive intensity, Kostyuk won 90 percent of first-serve points and allowed zero break chances while the Italian committed 25 unforced errors in 69 minutes.
Reflecting on her Centre Court debut, Kostyuk called the victory a "dream come true," recalling her visit as a spectator nine years ago watching Federer.
Kostyuk advances to face ninth-seeded Czech Linda Noskova on Thursday, marking her second consecutive Grand Slam semifinal after reaching the French Open semifinals earlier this year.
