Will the Timberwolves play LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards together all the time?
Chris Finch said Minnesota trusts Ayo Dosunmu, T.J. Shannon and Bones Hyland to handle the ball in staggered lineups.
- The Minnesota Timberwolves acquired LaMelo Ball from the Charlotte Hornets to pair with Anthony Edwards, shifting the seventh-year superstar off the ball to unlock his scoring potential.
- Coach Chris Finch noted he wants the duo on the floor together, highlighting how Ball generated easy looks for Edwards during Monday's win over New York, where Edwards scored 45 points in 41 minutes.
- Finch expressed "great trust" in reserves Ayo Dosunmu, T.J. Shannon, and Bones Hyland, whose up-tempo play last season earned them the nickname "Twin Turbos."
- Despite the backcourt excitement, Ball has played just 303 of 482 career games—a 63% appearance rate due to injuries—while guard Donte DiVincenzo remains sidelined after tearing his Achilles tendon last season.
- Coming off Western Conference finals appearances in 2024 and 2025, Minnesota remains a top championship contender, hoping this refined roster anchored by Rudy Gobert can overcome last season's second-round playoff exit.
