On the feast day of St. Stephen, who the Christian Church celebrates as the first martyr, traditional blessings of horses, whose patron saint he is, took place across the country. The largest was held near Šentjernej, where 130 horsemen and a total of almost 2,000 people gathered.

On the occasion of today's feast day of St. Stephen, the traditional patron saint of horses, who the Christian Church celebrates as the first martyr, a series of horse blessings will take place in Dolenjska, Bela Krajina, Posavje and elsewhere in the country. The largest traditional gathering, Štefanovo 2024, is being held in Dolenja Stara vas near Šentjernej, where more than 150 horsemen usually gather.

Ob današnjem godu sv. Štefana, izročilnega zavetnika konj, ki ga krščanska Cerkev slavi kot prvega mučenca, se bo na Dolenjskem, v Beli krajini, Posavju in drugje po državi zvrstila vrsta blagoslovov konj. Najmnožičnejši tradicionalni zbor Štefanovo 2024 prirejajo v Dolenji Stari vasi pri Šentjerneju, kjer se običajno zbere več kot 150 konjenikov.

NEW YORK (AP) - The second holiday of Christmas, which falls on today, belongs to St. Stephen.
