‘American Idol’ Fans Want Paula Abdul Back as Full-Time Judge: Who Should She Replace?
The former judges mentored the Top 5 and joined a crossover night with Dancing With the Stars, while viewers voted to cut the field to three.
On Monday, original American Idol judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson returned to the show, guiding the Top 5 contestants through the high-pressure semifinals.
Abdul and Jackson were two of the original trio that launched the series in 2002 alongside Simon Cowell, helping shape the competition during its early years.
Beyond offering critiques, Abdul joined the current judging panel featuring Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood while both mentors provided guidance to the remaining hopefuls.
The episode also featured a crossover twist with Dancing With the Stars, as professional dancers Gleb Savchenko, Witney Carson, Rylee Arnold, and Jan Ravnik joined for live performances.
Many viewers responded positively to Abdul's return, with some suggesting she join the panel permanently, as the Top 3 head into the season finale on May 11.
