What to Know About The AP Voter Poll
The survey will interview about 75,000 voters and add 25,000 Election Day interviews to show how major groups voted and why.
The Associated Press launched The Voter Poll to illuminate how key groups shaped the 2026 election outcome, interviewing approximately 75,000 voters nationwide to explain their motivations and voting choices.
Reflecting American election complexity, the poll combines a comprehensive survey across all 50 states with in-person interviews, adding approximately 25,000 interviews in 15 key states on Election Day.
Participants answer demographic questions and share views on key issues facing the country, including the economy and immigration, while the national survey also asks about the "generic" House ballot to gauge the congressional race.
The Voter Poll serves as a valuable tool for the Decision Team to help determine winners on Election Night; however, it is not a replacement for the vote count and cannot call races independently.
Initial survey results become available at 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Nov. 3, with interviews from Indiana, Missouri, North Dakota, Utah, and Washington included in the national survey but not reported separately.
