On Saturday, the Houston Cougars defeated the Kansas State Wildcats 35-16 in Manhattan, Kansas, as quarterback Conner Weigman connected with tight end Patrick Overmyer for four touchdown passes.
Weigman dominated the passing game with 242 yards and four touchdowns, all to Overmyer, who caught eight passes for 83 yards to anchor an efficient offensive attack.
Houston's ground game complemented the aerial attack as running back Makhi Hughes rushed for 78 yards and a score, with the Cougars outgaining Kansas State 475-299 in total yards.
For the Wildcats, quarterback Avery Johnson completed 16 of 30 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns with an interception while Kansas State allowed 26 first downs.
This victory improves Houston to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the Big 12, while the Wildcats fall to 3-2 and 0-2 in conference play ahead of hosting Kansas next Saturday.
