WiiM Takes On Sonos With Dolby Atmos Soundbar Featuring Built-In Touchscreen Display – channelnews
Audio brand WiiM has entered the highly competitive soundbar market, unveiling its first-ever Dolby Atmos soundbar, the WiiM Bar, with pricing and features designed to take on established players including Sonos, Bose and Sony. The WiiM Bar, unveiled at High End Vienna 2026, features a touchscreen display and combines a 3.0.2-channel Dolby Atmos configuration with DTS:X support. It also features custom eight-driver array featuring front-firing mid-woofers, tweeters and up-firing height drivers. Four passive radiators are included to enhance bass performance. WiiM, best known for its network streamers and wireless audio products, is positioning the soundbar as an affordable home theatre solution with an aggressive US$479 (A$740) price tag. The standout feature is a 2.1-inch circular touchscreen built into the front of the soundbar, allowing users to access playback controls, source switching, EQ settings, album artwork and presets directly from the device. WiiM has also included RoomFit automatic room correction, AI-powered Clear Voice Mode for dialogue enhancement, and a Night Mode that reduces loud effects while preserving speech clarity. Connectivity includes HDMI eARC, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, Ethernet and support for Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS and DTS:X formats. Streaming services can be accessed through the WiiM Home app, with support for Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Google Cast and Roon. The soundbar can operate as a standalone system or be expanded into a wireless 5.1.2-channel setup using compatible WiiM surround speakers and the WiiM Sub Pro. “The WiiM Bar is a natural next step for our ecosystem,” said WiiM CEO Dr Lifeng Zhao. “It’s designed to grow with the way our users enjoy music, movies and gaming.” Australian pricing is yet to be confirmed.
