Warriors' Yaxel Lendeborg reveals what is 'shocking' to hear from Steve Kerr while learning system
Steve Kerr said the rookie is ready for a major role after strong preseason play and praised his size, versatility and passing.
The Golden State Warriors initially targeted Arizona guard Brayden Burries in the draft but ultimately selected rookie forward Yaxel Lendeborg, who has quickly become a central figure for the organization.
Golden State finished with 37 wins last season and currently faces injuries to veterans including Jimmy Butler, Al Horford, and Kristaps Porzingis, increasing the franchise's need for immediate production.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr called Lendeborg the 'most pro-ready rookie' he has coached. 'He's the most prepared, most ready guy,' Kerr told the Dubs Talk Podcast last week.
Kerr told ESPN's Anthony Slater that Lendeborg is 'going to play a ton,' as the rookie integrates into a potential starting lineup alongside Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
To maximize his impact, Lendeborg must focus on improving his 'defensive awareness' while leveraging his size and passing ability to connect the offense, according to team feedback.
