Warning issued after first Asian hornet nest discovered in Wales

A dead yellow‑legged hornet nest was found near Wrexham, marking the first confirmed discovery of the insect in Wales and prompting official attention.
After first being detected in the United Kingdom in 2016, the yellow‑legged hornet has produced regular sightings, including 44 confirmed instances prompting annual nest destruction.
