The Ukrainian army is reported to be fighting Russian troops in the northeastern border region of Sumy.

The Ukrainian military said Russia sought to break through the border in Sumy province, marking a new Russian offensive in the area, which had previously been largely unaffected by intense fighting since Ukraine recaptured the region in 2022.
