Walmart recalls 165,000 fabric dressers over tip-over hazard
Walmart is offering full refunds after the unstable dressers failed mandatory safety standards, with no injuries reported, officials said.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall on Thursday for about 165,000 Mainstays 9-Drawer Fabric Dressers sold at Walmart, citing instability that poses a serious risk of injury or death to children.
Violation of mandatory safety standards required by the STURDY Act prompted the recall, as the dressers can tip and entrap someone if not anchored to the wall.
Measuring about 40 inches long and 45 inches tall, the black metal-framed Mainstays units retailed for about $80 and were sold nationwide from September 2023 through March 2026.
Walmart is offering a full refund to customers who return the drawers and dispose of the frame according to local and state regulations.
No injuries have been reported in relation to the recall, though Consumers with questions can contact Walmart at 800-925-6278 or visit the company's website for more information.
