Wall Street giant DTCC launches tokenization for stocks, ETFs and U.S. Treasuries
- On Wednesday, the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation launched its tokenization service, bringing stocks, bonds, and funds onto blockchain infrastructure for the first time at the heart of U.S. securities markets.
- This rollout follows a successful pilot earlier this year and a December 2025 no-action letter from the SEC, which stated it would not recommend enforcement action against the proposed tokenization program.
- DTCC's website lists 34 eligible securities representing approximately $30 trillion in market value, with 20 clients including JPMorgan and Fidelity Investments signed on to access the service targeting 15 minutes or less processing times.
- DTCC CEO Frank Salla said the service establishes a "foundation for responsible institutional adoption at scale" by extending existing governance standards into digital markets, creating a "practical path" for tokenized securities adoption.
- The company plans to add Stellar and Circle Internet's Arc blockchain networks in 2027, alongside tools for settling transactions with digital cash, expanding the tokenization infrastructure beyond current capabilities.
