VW's New-Age Microbus Is Back for 2027, and the ID.Buzz Now Comes with a Version for Campers
The camper-focused Tourer trim adds a fold-out mattress, window blinds and an Overnight Mode, while the lineup gains updated software and Tesla Supercharger access.
On Thursday, Volkswagen announced the 2027 ID.Buzz will return to the U.S. market after skipping 2026, introducing a new camping-focused Tourer 4Motion trim with factory-installed sleeping accommodations.
The electric minibus returns after skipping the 2026 model year due to low demand, with the Tourer variant adapting the European "Good Night Package" to include a fold-out mattress, window blinds, and ventilation panels.
Standard equipment on the Tourer includes a retractable tow hitch, captain's chairs, and an electrochromic smart roof, while new Overnight Mode software adapts climate control and interior functions for in-van sleeping.
Volkswagen revised the 2027 lineup to four models, exclusively offering two-tone paint schemes including new Candy White over Cherry Red, and every version inherits the brand's newest ID.S 6 infotainment software.
All 2027 ID.Buzz models now include a North American Charging System adapter, providing owners access to Tesla's Supercharger network and enhancing the electric van's charging convenience.
