Who Steps up for Vikings with Justin Jefferson Ruled Out?
An MRI confirmed the sprain after Jefferson left Minnesota’s win with 13 catches for 179 yards this season.
The Minnesota Vikings have ruled star wide receiver Justin Jefferson out of Sunday's game with a sprained left ankle confirmed by MRI. Jefferson sustained the injury during last Sunday's 23-16 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jefferson's absence marks a significant setback for the 3-0 Vikings, who face the winless Dolphins this Sunday. The two-time All-Pro has collected 179 yards and two touchdowns in three games this season.
Sunday's matchup will feature both teams missing their biggest stars after Miami running back Von Achane was lost for the season with a torn ACL. The Dolphins have allowed opposing quarterbacks to complete 80.3% of their passes, the worst in the NFL.
Minnesota will look to Jordan Addison to be Kyler Murray's top receiving option in Jefferson's stead. Dolphins coach Jeff Hafley said, "I think Addison is one of the most underrated and undertalked-about wide receivers in the league."
The two-time All-Pro has put up 1,000 yards in each of his first six NFL seasons since being selected by the Vikings in the 2020 NFL Draft. Jefferson's durability track record suggests this injury is temporary.
