Vikings place C Ryan Kelly on IR after latest concussion
Ryan Kelly suffered his third concussion of the season during the Vikings' win over the Giants, leading to his placement on injured reserve and ending his 2025 campaign.
- On Wednesday the Minnesota Vikings placed center Ryan Kelly on injured reserve, ending his season after a concussion in Sunday’s 16-13 win over the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.
- Kelly's injuries stem from repeated concussions this season, including earlier ones in Weeks 2 and 4 that cost him time, and after returning on Nov. 12 he changed helmets and added a Guardian Cap before a collision with Bobby Okereke caused the latest concussion.
- Kelly signed in March to a two-year, $18 million contract, started eight games, played 314 offensive snaps, and returned to practice on Nov. 12 before starting Nov. 23 after a six-game absence.
- The move ends Kelly's season and potentially his career, removing Minnesota Vikings' starting center with two games remaining, and coach Kevin O'Connell said `So much respect for Ryan as a player`.
- Kelly's career includes six documented concussions and major collegiate honors; he entered the NFL as the 2016 first-round pick and earned four Pro Bowl selections with the Indianapolis Colts.
