The 49ers and Vikings Had a Trade in Place for Jauan Jennings and He Nixed It
Jay Glazer reported the deal was contingent on a FaceTime with Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch, but Jennings chose Minnesota.
On Sunday, Fox Sports insider Jay Glazer reported that the Minnesota Vikings and San Francisco 49ers established trade terms for wide receiver Jauan Jennings, but the veteran declined to rejoin his former team.
The agreement was contingent upon Jennings confirming his desire to join San Francisco during a FaceTime call with 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch, which he refused.
Signed to a one-year, $8 million contract in May, Jennings has recorded just four catches for 43 yards this season, a sharp decline from his 643-yard performance last year with San Francisco.
Following the rejection, Jennings remains on the Vikings roster as Minnesota prepares for the upcoming Detroit Lions game, while San Francisco continues dealing with three receivers on injured reserve.
With the NFL trade deadline approaching, Minnesota continues exploring roster improvements, though Jennings remains with the team after rejecting the potential return to his former club.
