On Saturday, Vanderbilt defeated Mississippi State 25-23, securing the Commodores' first Southeastern Conference win of the season and snapping a five-game losing streak.

After quarterback A.J. Swann connected with Sanfrisco Magee for a 65-yard touchdown in the third quarter, Will Whitson recorded a scoop-and-score that cut Vanderbilt's lead to 16-14.
Cole Spence sealed the victory by recovering an onside kick in the final minute, after the Bulldogs threatened to tie the game with a late touchdown and two-point conversion attempt.
Vanderbilt returns home next week to host Alabama, while Mississippi State prepares to face Auburn on Saturday, both teams seeking momentum from their respective outcomes.
