Utah Unveils Name and Logo for the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Games

The statewide branding aims to unify all Utah communities for the 2034 Winter Games, with merchandise sales contributing about 5% of the event’s budget, organizers said.

  • At a ceremony marking 3,000 days until the Games, the Organizing Committee for the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games unveiled the official name Utah 2034 and a new stylized logo at Salt Lake City International Airport on Monday.
  • Because the IOC now allows regionwide bids, organizers said dropping Salt Lake City and using Utah 2034 aims to make the Games feel statewide and more inclusive across 13 venues in five counties.
  • The transitional logo has International Olympic Committee and U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee sign-off and organizers began selling Utah 2034 merchandise and installed a 12-foot airport sign Monday.
  • Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall said the city's exclusion `hurts` despite negotiating Salt Lake City’s inclusion in some logo uses months ago.
  • So far, more than $200 million has been pledged toward the $4 billion price tag, and the Games will reuse most venues across 13 venues in five counties from Feb. 6-22.
