The Americans on Friday confirmed the withdrawal of their troops from Niger. More than 1,000 troops will withdraw from the country in the coming months. The military junta, which is now in power in the Sahel country, has signed a treaty with the Americans in mid-March. After last year's coup the French have also withdrawn from the country, the junta is strengthening ties to the Kremlin.

The new government of Niger revoked the agreement on the presence of American troops in the country and declared it illegal and unconstitutional.
