In an exclusive interview with US publication TODAY, US ambassador to NATO, Matt Whitaker, said that allies must be prepared, in the event that Russian President Vladimir Putin would decide to attack.
Russia may not plan an imminent attack on NATO countries, but the United States is asking allies to train and invest as if they did, to be prepared to reject a surprise attack.
Starting today and until October 8, 12,000 NATO troops are conducting defensive maneuvers on the border with Russia, preparing for an attack. The maneuvers are being conducted in cooperation with NATO's Multinational Division North Headquarters.
