US fast food chain to rival McDonald’s as it confirms UK return after 17 years
The Tex-Mex chain aims to open 85 to 100 UK restaurants after partnering with The Franchising Centre on its relaunch plans.
Chili's Grill & Bar is relaunching in Britain after more than 15 years, aiming to open a flagship restaurant within 12 to 18 months before rolling out additional locations.
The chain withdrew from Britain in 2009 after closing every branch, but now returns as American food brands like Popeye and Chick-fil-A increasingly enter the UK market.
Partnering with The Franchising Centre, the company aims to eventually open more than 100 restaurants. Franchise recruitment specialist John Overdijking said there are "significant" opportunities for full-service and fast-casual formats.
Target cities for expansion include London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Liverpool, Milton Keynes, Reading, and Solihull, according to current reports on the company's growth strategy.
Famous in America partly due to appearances in the US series The Office, the brand plans to test various restaurant formats before initiating a wider rollout across Britain.
