US Considering Permanent Ban on Air Bags Components by China Company

The agency says the parts were linked to 10 fatal crashes and 12 serious-injury cases, and it will seek public comment before acting.

On Thursday (April 2), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that more than 10 fatal car accidents have occurred in the United States since May 2023, all of which were linked to airbag inflators manufactured by the Chinese company DTN. The authorities are considering a permanent ban on the sale of substandard replacement parts produced by the company.
