U.S. Coast Guard’s Historical ‘America’s Tall Ship’ Visits Seattle
KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON, JUL 7 – The Barque Eagle serves as a leadership training platform for Coast Guard Academy cadets during its 14-week West Coast journey, with free public tours offered in Seattle.
The U.S. Coast Guard's Cutter Eagle, known as 'America’s Tall Ship,' is visiting Seattle, providing free public tours on July 9 and 10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., respectively.
The Cutter Eagle, the largest tall ship in U.S. government service, was built in Hamburg, Germany, in 1936.
Eagle has served as a classroom for future officers in the Coast Guard since 1946, providing training in navigation and engineering.
The last visit of America's Tall Ship to Seattle occurred in 2008.
