- On Monday, a jury found Massachusetts resident Mahdi Mohammad Sadeghi guilty of conspiring to unlawfully export electronic components to Iran, convicting him on three of five charges.
- Prosecutors alleged Sadeghi helped Iranian business associate Mohammad Abedininajafabadi evade export laws by facilitating a scheme involving a Tehran-based company that creates navigation systems for the Revolutionary Guard using a Swiss front company.
- Assistant U.S. Attorney Jared Dolan argued that text messages proved illegal acts were the "fruits of this relationship," while defense attorney William Fick told jurors the scheme "makes no sense" and lacked proof parts reached Iran.
- Sadeghi will remain free until his sentencing on Oct. 13, while his co-defendant Abedini remains in Iran after a prisoner exchange involving Italian journalist Cecilia Sala.
