The National Weather Service issued warnings of winter storms this afternoon , which “will cause hazardous travel conditions for the Great Lakes into the northern Mid-Atlantic and southern New England today through Saturday morning.”
At least 1,490 flights had been cancelled and 5,900 delayed until 21:00 GMT on Friday.
In view of severe weather warnings in the United States, airlines have cancelled more than 1,000 flights and up to 25 centimeters of snow are expected in New York.
