'Hard To Look At': Updated Google Maps Images Reveal Gaza's Destruction
A UN report published on September 24 estimated that around 1.9 million people in Gaza had been displaced, with many forced to move more than once. It also said more than 60 percent of the population had lost their homes.
The extensive destruction caused by the Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip, which has been ongoing since October 2023, is reflected in updated satellite images from Google Maps. Palestinian sources state that 223,000 tons of explosives have been used in the attacks, an amount 16 times greater than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
