Update as teen charged after allegedly assaulting tourist
On December 18, a 34-year-old Norwegian tourist was allegedly assaulted and robbed at St Kilda Pier by a group of at least eight people, who stole his phone and later threw it into the bay.
Police say the confrontation began when the group that confronted the tourist accused him of taking photos, but investigators found nothing on the tourist's mobile phone to justify the attack.
The victim was taken to hospital with a broken arm and facial injuries, has flown home, while Nine Video on social media shows him chased by agitated youths surrounded by about 150 people.
On Wednesday, Victoria Police released images of four people they want to speak with—three men and one woman—while a 19-year-old man from Deer Park was charged and bailed to face Melbourne Magistrates' Court on July 8 next year.
Amid an appeal for witnesses, police are searching for at least seven more alleged offenders and urge bystanders who filmed or witnessed the attack to come forward.
