United flight forced to make emergency landing in St Louis after passenger made bomb threat, report says
The Boeing 737-700 with 119 passengers was delayed over five hours while bomb squads found no explosives and the suspect was arrested, authorities said.
On Sunday, Nov. 16, United Airlines Flight 380 diverted to St. Louis Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, landing around 8:39 a.m. to address a potential safety concern.
An unidentified male passenger allegedly said there was a bomb in his wife's luggage, prompting the diversion; this is the second bomb threat on a United flight in roughly two weeks, following the November 4 incident.
Passengers were evacuated to the concourse and waited while bomb and arson teams plus K‑9 units searched the plane for more than two hours and found nothing.
Authorities arrested an unidentified male passenger and the Federal Bureau of Investigation joined local investigators; airport officials said no passengers were injured and the flight later continued.
Broader aviation trends show repeated onboard threats and stressed staffing, as a number of similar incidents in recent months exposed Federal Aviation Administration flight cuts and air traffic controller pressures at major U.S. airports.
