UK airline cancels flights from Southampton due to Storm Austen
Four Loganair services were cancelled as winds up to 70mph and severe weather warnings disrupted travel across the South West, the airport said.
On Friday, October 23, Exeter Airport confirmed four Loganair flights were cancelled as Storm Austen swept across Devon and Cornwall, affecting services connecting to Jersey and Edinburgh.
The Met Office warned: "Storm Austen brings a spell of strong winds with transport disruption likely and possible damaging winds in some areas," with winds reaching up to 70mph across the South West.
Devon County Council urged motorists to review travel plans due to debris and flooding, while Great Western Railway introduced speed restrictions across Devon and Cornwall and CrossCountry reported service cancellations.
EasyJet rescheduled two Southampton flights to London Gatwick, while Bristol Airport confirmed delays and cancellations affecting routes to Toulouse, Menorca, and the Isle of Man.
Forecasters expect strong winds to ease later on Friday, though unsettled weather may continue; passengers are advised to check flight status and allow extra time for travel.
