Uganda begins Ebola vaccine trial

Uganda has started a trial of a vaccine against the Sudan strain of the Ebola virus after an outbreak that has killed one person and infected two others.
The first participant in the trial received a dose of the vaccine developed by the International Aids Vaccine Initiative.
Forty contacts of the first victim will be vaccinated in this phase of the trial, conducted with Ugandan authorities and the WHO.
The trial aims to assess the effectiveness of the vaccine and contribute to controlling the outbreak, as stated by the Minister of Health of Uganda.
