UConn's Reed, Karaban Selected in 1st Round of NBA Draft
Denver moved out of the first round and added two future second-round picks, according to The Denver Post.
On Tuesday, the Denver Nuggets traded the 26th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft to the San Antonio Spurs, shifting Denver out of the first round.
Denver selected UConn center Tarris Reed Jr. before sending his draft rights to San Antonio, allowing the team to save on a first-round rookie salary and guaranteed four-year contract.
In exchange for Reed, Denver received the 35th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, a 2031 Sacramento Kings second-round pick, and a 2028 Minnesota Timberwolves second-round pick.
Trades cannot be made official until next week, but Denver still holds the 49th overall pick to add young talent on Wednesday night.
With only one rotational player under 25, the Nuggets prioritize financial flexibility to manage cap sheet constraints from previous contract extensions signed in 2023.
