2 Licensed Skydivers Die in Southern California After Their Parachutes Become Entangled

Authorities said the parachutes tangled after the collision, and both licensed skydivers were taken to a hospital in critical condition before dying.

  • On Friday, Nov. 6, two licensed skydivers died in Lake Elsinore, California, after colliding midair during an organized skydiving event at Skydive Elsinore.
  • The pair were among 20 experienced jumpers who exited an aircraft at approximately 12,500 feet but collided at approximately 150 feet while preparing to land, causing their parachutes to entangle.
  • Authorities identified victims as Georgia Jean, 56, of South Dakota, and Levi Pimentel, 29, of Illinois; Pimentel was a lead instructor at iFLY in Naperville.
  • Cal Fire and deputies responded to the "air emergency" on Friday, transporting both skydivers to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead.
  • The Federal Aviation Administration will collect the parachutes for further investigation, while the Parachute Association reported 16 fatalities among 3.47 million jumps in 2025.
