Kazakhstan on Thursday denied reports that Russia plans to abandon its lease on the Baikonur Cosmodrome before it expires in 2050, amid speculation that Moscow may be preparing to ditch the historic launch site.

Astana - Security forces at the Russian-run Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan have detained two Czech tourists who wanted to enter the Buran space shuttle and take pictures of it, Russian state news agency TASS reported today, citing a source who said the pair were fined and released. According to the Telegram channel Shot, the men wanted to take pictures of the Soviet Energia launch vehicle designed to launch the Buran space shuttle into space.
