Wall Street faces a key week marked by U.S. inflation data and fear of further interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve.
This Week's Inflation Data Will Decide If the Fed Hikes Rates
PPI on Thursday and CPI on Friday, Sept. 11, are the last inflation reads before the Fed's Sept. 15-16 meeting. With hawkish Chair Kevin Warsh openly weighing a rate hike, not a cut, gold, bitcoin and Treasury yields are already split on the outcome.
Better-than-expected US employment data strengthened expectations of an interest rate hike, increasing selling pressure on gold prices. The price of gold per ounce finished the week at around $4,430, while in the domestic market, the price of gold per gram fell to the 6,900 TL mark. This week, attention will be focused on US inflation data and the trajectory of oil prices.
