Two children die in Wolverhampton house fire
Police said firefighters rescued the children and medics gave advanced life support before they were pronounced dead at the scene.
- Two children died in a house fire in Wolverhampton on Friday evening, West Midlands Police have said.
- Emergency responders including Police, West Midlands Fire Service, and West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to Mason Street at about 20:30 BST on Friday.
- Firefighters entered the property to rescue the two children, but they could not be saved; Medics worked "rapidly to administer advanced life support to both children but tragically they were both confirmed dead a short time later," West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
- Two other children and a woman had evacuated before emergency services arrived and were checked over by ambulance staff but did not require hospital treatment.
- Police have cordoned off the extensively damaged property to investigate the cause of the fire. Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting log 5640.
