Trump’s motorcade neared 100 mph en route to Oklahoma after helicopter, airplane ruled out
Trump arrived about two hours late after stormy weather forced a 90-mile motorcade trip that reached 98 mph, The Hill reported.
On Thursday, President Trump traveled by motorcade from a Peterbilt Motors event in Denton, Texas, to a rally in Durant, Oklahoma after stormy weather grounded aircraft. The convoy covered the 90 miles by road.
Stormy weather prevented air travel, forcing President Trump to abandon Marine One. Trump opted for the high-speed ground transfer to ensure he reached the rally, refusing to cancel the event.
Trump's motorcade reached speeds of 98 mph, hitting nearly 100 mph during the transit. Trump later joked that "The Beast" is "going faster than it has ever gone before."
Trump arrived at the rally two hours late, where he campaigned for Oklahoma GOP gubernatorial nominee Mike Mazzei, Senate nominee Kevin Hearn, and Oklahoma State Treasurer candidate Cindy Byrd. He urged supporters to vote for them.
Citing his electoral dominance, Trump insisted on attending because he won all 77 Oklahoma counties during his three presidential runs.
