Trump: ‘There would be no Israel’ without me
Trump said Israel has killed too many people in Lebanon and urged Netanyahu to be more responsible as a U.S.-Iran deal nears signing.
At the Summit in Evian, France, President Donald Trump criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday over recent airstrikes in Beirut, stating the Israeli leader must be "more responsible" regarding Lebanon.
Suggesting Syria handle Hezbollah, the president described the Beirut attack as "vicious" and "too much," adding that forces should not "knock down an apartment house" to find targets.
Maintaining they have a "great relationship," he asserted that without the United States, "there would be no Israel" because no other president was willing to do what he did.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stated Israel is not bound by the Deal, while Iran insisted Lebanon remains an "integral part" of the border arrangement.
With the truce expected to be formalized in Switzerland on Friday, the Deal aims to bring "Peace and Security" to the Region, though ongoing combat operations complicate the implementation.
