Trump cancels Kansas rally before midterm elections to hold virtual events
The Republican National Committee said the switch will let Trump reach voters in nearly 20 states as he backs candidates in competitive races.
- On Thursday, officials confirmed that President Donald Trump canceled his planned Saturday rally at Salina Regional Airport, originally scheduled to support Sen. Roger Marshall.
- Kansas Republican Party Executive Director Rob Fillion cited scheduling conflicts, noting the campaign shifted focus to tele-town halls to reach more voters ahead of Election Day.
- The rally was intended to boost Sen. Roger Marshall in his competitive reelection race against Democratic challenger Adam Hamilton, who is a pastor.
- Salina Airport Authority Executive Director Pieter Miller confirmed all scheduled events at the site are off, with organizers notifying ticket holders of the cancellation by email.
- The campaign plans to conduct more than 20 tele-rallies nationwide to connect directly with Americans before Election Day, maximizing reach across multiple locations simultaneously.
