'Treepedo': Officials Share Photo of Smashed Tree to Show Difficulty in Returning to Boston Bar - Greenwood Boundary Creek Times
Officials say returning residents will face one road in and one road out, with unsafe access blocked by fallen trees, boulders and power lines.
- As of Aug. 4, The Brunswick Creek Complex Wildfire remains out of control, and all evacuation orders for Boston Bar stay in place while the Fraser Valley Regional District assesses safety conditions.
- Fraser Valley Regional District officials warned that returning to the community will take time, as the Fraser Canyon area faces significant hazards including downed power lines, boulders, and falling trees dubbed Treepedos.
- Treepedos and giant boulders have made southern access impassable. Officials are waiting for Wildfire crews to "decide the winds are in our favour and it is safe" before allowing residents to return.
- People returning must prepare for a long northern route drive, as southern access remains closed. Officials advise stocking bottled water, generator fuel, and cleaning supplies, cautioning that water may not be potable.
- Continuous updates regarding the return process will be available on the FVRD Facebook page. Residents must ensure they can exit the area safely in another emergency, officials emphasized.
